Shopify integration

Connect your store and Contengi puts an agent directly on your Shopify blog. It reads the articles you have, writes new ones in your voice, edits the old ones and publishes back to the same URL. It touches your content and nothing else in the store.

## An agent that works directly on your blog.

Read

### Reads what is already live

The CMS lists the articles in your chosen Shopify blog, newest first, with drafts marked as drafts. Open any of them, including articles Contengi never wrote, and the agent works from the real HTML.

[Content library and CMS](https://contengi.com/features/library)

Write

### Writes in your brand voice

The SEO agent researches the keyword, reads your knowledge base and hard rules, and drafts the post. Four slop filters run before you ever see it.

[Content agents](https://contengi.com/features/content-agents)

Publish

### Publishes when you say so

Articles go into the blog you pick with the body, summary, author and featured image set, and your target keywords added as tags.

[Content library and CMS](https://contengi.com/features/library)

Edit

### Edits one section at a time

Ask the edit agent to tighten an intro, add a section or fix a stat. It changes only what you asked for, checks the links and shows you a diff you can revert.

Republish

### Republishes at the same URL

An edited or refreshed post goes back over the original. If Contengi cannot find that original, the publish stops, so a second copy never appears at a new address.

Claude

### Works from your own Claude too

Connect Contengi to Claude and the same blog is one chat away. Claude can open a live post, edit it section by section and leave it waiting for you to publish.

Under the hood

## How the connection is built.

You create a small private app on your own store and Contengi connects through it with standard Shopify OAuth. The app asks for one permission, so the agent can reach your blog and nothing else.

Connection

The Shopify Admin API, through an app you create for your own store. It is never listed publicly.

Permissions

One scope, write\_content. No access to orders, customers, products or payments.

Authentication

Standard Shopify OAuth with a signed callback. Your client secret is encrypted into a 10-minute token and never stored. Contengi keeps only the access token Shopify issues, encrypted.

Featured images

Sent as a link. Shopify fetches the image and hosts it on its own CDN.

Updates

Contengi finds the original article by its id or its handle and edits it in place.

Which blog

You pick the Shopify blog posts go into when you connect, and can change it later.

Unpublish and delete

Handled in Shopify admin.

Setup: About five minutes

FAQ

## Common questions

### Can Contengi see my orders or customers?

No. The app you create asks for write\_content only, which covers blog content. Orders, customers, products and payments sit behind other scopes that Contengi never requests.

### Why do I have to create my own app?

It keeps the connection private to your store and under your control. You can see exactly what it is allowed to do, and revoke it in Shopify at any time.

### The connection fails with a matching hosts error. What now?

Tick Use legacy install flow in the app version, release it again and reconnect. Without that setting Shopify uses a different install flow that rejects outside redirect URLs.

### Can it update articles that are already on my store?

Yes. Open any article from the CMS, edit it with the agent or refresh it with the SEO agent, and it publishes back over the same article at the same URL.
