TL;DR
- The best MCP servers for content marketing in Claude cover four jobs: brand-aware writing and publishing (Contengi), SEO data (Ahrefs), notes and briefs (Notion), and your CMS or recordings (Webflow, Riverside).
- Contengi's connector gives Claude more than 60 tools, from brand context and Search Console research to drafting, section-level editing, and publishing.
- Ahrefs runs a hosted MCP server on paid plans from Lite upwards, and every call spends API units from your plan.
- Notion MCP works on every Notion plan, and Webflow's official server can read and update CMS collections and pages.
- Connect two servers you'll use every week and stop there. Each one adds tools Claude has to choose between.
MCP turned Claude from a clever writer into a colleague who can open your other apps. A content marketer with three good connectors does in one chat what used to take six browser tabs and a spreadsheet.
Here are five MCP servers worth connecting for content work, in no specific order after the first. We built Contengi, so it sits at the top, and each of the others does a job we don't. If MCP is new to you, start with our explainer on what MCP is.
What is an MCP server for content marketing?
An MCP server is a connector that lets an AI app like Claude use another tool's data and actions. MCP is the open standard behind it, so one connector works across Claude on the web, Claude Desktop, and Claude Code.
For content marketing, the useful servers fall into three groups: ones that know your brand, ones that bring data, and ones that put content somewhere. A good stack has one of each.
1. Contengi: best for when you want Claude to write on-brand and publish to your site
The Contengi connector gives Claude more than 60 tools. Claude reads your knowledge base, tone of voice, and hard rules before it writes, pulls Search Console and GA4 numbers, saves drafts to your library, edits live articles one section at a time, and publishes when you ask.
Research, drafting, and editing through the connector run on your own Claude plan. Contengi itself is from $50 a month with no seats, plus an Anthropic key for jobs that run inside the app. It's in beta, and setup with a strategist is included.
Choose it if you already work in Claude and want one connector that covers brand rules, research, drafting, and publishing.
2. Ahrefs MCP: best for when you want backlink and keyword data in the chat
Ahrefs runs a hosted MCP server for users on a Lite plan or higher. Claude can pull keywords, backlinks, and traffic data without you opening Site Explorer. Each call uses API units from your plan, and new MCP keys default to a monthly cap of 200,000 units each.
The Lite plan is shown at €119 a month, with 100 rows per MCP request. Higher plans raise the row limit.
Choose it if you pay for Ahrefs already and want keyword research to happen inside your drafting chat.
3. Notion MCP: best for when your briefs and calendar live in Notion
Notion's hosted server lets Claude read and update content you can access in your Notion workspace, after one OAuth sign-in. It works on every Notion plan, and some search and query features need Business or Enterprise.
For content teams, that means Claude can read a brief, check the calendar, and write status updates back to the database.
Choose it if Notion is where your content calendar, briefs, or interview notes already live.
4. Webflow MCP: best for when your blog runs on Webflow
Webflow's official server connects agents to your projects, so Claude can work with the CMS, pages, and site analytics and help with SEO and AEO fixes. Each authorization covers one workspace, and it can't create a new site project.
It's built for people comfortable describing site changes in plain English and checking the result in the Designer afterwards.
Choose it if you manage a Webflow site and want Claude to edit CMS items and meta fields directly.
5. Riverside MCP: best for when your content starts as recordings
Riverside's MCP lets Claude search your transcripts, make edits, cut clips, and publish to social media. It's part of the Grow plan, at $34 a month billed annually.
Pair it with a writing connector and one podcast episode turns into a blog brief, a clip list, and a LinkedIn post in one conversation.
Choose it if you record a podcast or interviews in Riverside and want Claude to mine them.

How to set up a content MCP stack this week
- Pick one writing connector and one data connector, and leave the rest until both are in daily use.
- Write your brand rules down first. A connector can only follow rules it can read, and our guide to setting up a brand knowledge base for AI covers what goes in.
- Test with one real job, like "find the post that lost the most clicks last month and propose a refresh".
- Keep publishing behind a human click. Let Claude draft and edit freely, and approve anything that goes live yourself.
- Turn the job into a skill once it works twice, so you can repeat it with one line. Our list of Claude skills for content marketing has starting points.

Frequently asked questions
What are the best MCP servers for content marketing?
Start with one that knows your brand and publishes (Contengi), one for SEO data (Ahrefs), and one for where your content lives (Notion, Webflow, or Riverside). That covers writing, research, and distribution.
Do I need to code to use MCP servers in Claude?
No. Hosted servers connect by pasting a URL into Claude as a custom connector and signing in. Claude Code takes one terminal command instead.
Do MCP servers cost extra?
The connector itself is usually included with the tool's paid plan. Ahrefs MCP uses API units from your plan, and Riverside MCP comes with its Grow plan.
Can Claude publish blog posts through MCP?
Yes, with a connector that has publishing tools, like Contengi or Webflow. Keep a rule that nothing goes live without your say-so.
How many MCP servers should I connect?
Two or three you use every week. Each extra server adds tools Claude has to choose between, which slow it down and raise the odds it picks the wrong one.
